Brody in Emergency at LSU
Brody in Emergency at LSU
Brody’s story and why we are dedicated to raising money for farm animals. At just 13weeks old Brody was lethargic, scooting on his belly and crying out for help as he was in pain. I called my Veterinarian and she said this is a serious emergency as Brody has a blockage in his bladder. She also said he needed to be transported to LSU Large Animal Emergency facility where they had the proper equipment and knowledge to treat Brody. In a panic, I loaded Brody and drove an hour and 15 minutes to get him to LSU in Baton Rouge. Calling on my way there the Doctors were ready and waiting for our arrival. After 3 days of trying to treat him with medications and diet nothing seemed to be working -- the alternative and only choice was emergency surgery on Sunday (Mother’s Day at that!) Surgery was the last choice as goats do not do well under anesthesia and surgical procedures, but to try to save his life it was the only thing left. The doctors removed stones and carefully monitored him. Brody spent 2 weeks in ICU at LSU with the most awesome care he could possibly have! I promised that if he made it through this I would help people that could not afford to go this far to save their child’s 4H animal or any farm pet because of the expense involved. The veterinarian care for these animals can be astronomical!! SO MANY broken hearts leave large animal Veterinarian facilities because the only alternative is Humanely Euthanizing the animal. So many organizations help those with domestic animals but there are no organizations to help with the expenses of our farm pets who are just as much family as any dog or cat. Your donations are much appreciated and will go to a great cause!!
